Along with that excitement, players should expect lots of fun, hard work, and dedication so that they can become better soccer players, and ultimately better young men and women. In order for us to have an effective and productive season, your commitment as a family will be essential. Select teams typically can travel further distances than Recreational teams for games and enter several tournaments per season. Success requires following through with the expectations below…
Training: Select Soccer requires a full year commitment (both fall and spring seasons) from players and parents. Teams practice two times a week for a minimum of 90 minutes per session and play matches on weekends. Always come prepared for practice and games. Bring a water bottle, cleats, shin guards, and a ball.
Tournaments: Attendance at tournaments is a must. A team can not show their best unless they are full strength. Players who do not show not only hurt themselves but their teammates as well. Keep in mind that this is a long term process. Every step is crucial.
Expectations: Players are expected to attend all trainings and games. An excused miss means that the player has contacted their coach prior to training to explain why they are missing the practice. At that time you will be informed by the coach whether it will be excused or not. An excused absence from practice will result in no penalty.
